Health Fair Season
at PMG
We take
this time of year in the clinics to work with some of our local industries
in promoting health and safety among their employees. PMG does that by
conducting health fairs in many of the large companies in town. We have
screenings scheduled for the City of Clarksville, MW/MB and Jostens Publishing.
This is an excellent way to educate people who may not have a doctor
or who do not visit their doctor on a regular basis. Plus it allows PMG
to build relationships in the community. Photo

"Go Red For Women" raises
over $20,000 for the American Heart Association
Clarksville's
2nd "Go Red For Women" was held Tuesday, May 9th at the Clarksville
County Club. Four out of seven people who suffer from heart disease will
live to tell their stories, according to American Heart Association data.
Taking steps today to make lifestyle changes that can reduce your chance
of having heart disease or a stroke was the message our own Dr. Shawn
King stressed as she addressed the sold out crowd of more than 250 people. "Go
Red for Women" is an American Heart Association celebration and
fundraiser that encourages women to be aware of the threat of heart disease.
This is the second year that Premier participated as a platinum sponsor
by conducting on-site health screenings. Shopping, a heart-healthy lunch
and hearing the stories of actual survivors were also part of the program.

Dr. Wade Huffman Certified
By MROCC As Medical Review Officer
Dr. Wade Huffman
of Premier Medical Group recently qualified as a certified Medical
Review Officer (MRO). Dr. Huffman is a board-certified physician
and Medical Director of Premier Medical Group Travel and Occupational
Medicine Center.
Dr Huffman was certified by the Medical Review Officer Certification Council
(MROCC), an independent physician-based certifying body which conducts an
extensive application process and written examination to identify licensed
physicians with the highest professional standards of medical expertise and
practical skills necessary to evaluate drug and alcohol test results in public
and private sectors of the workplace.
The U.S. Department of Transportation, and U.S. Department of Health and
Human Services, most Fortune 500 corporations and many smaller companies
require employee drug and alcohol testing today. Federal law mandates that
a qualified MRO must make the final determination of whether a positive laboratory
test represents substance abuse. The certified MRO may also act as a valuable
resource to protect the company, helping with policies and regulatory issues,
as well as providing related services such as drug testing collections, breath
alcohol testing services, coordination of laboratory services, laboratory
performance testing, and preparation of summary reports for employers. MROCC
certification indicates that a physician is well-prepared to handle workplace
drug and alcohol testing programs and to help manage chemical dependency.

Summer – Perfect Time
to Schedule Your Physical
An annual
physical is a yearly examination and comprehensive evaluation
of your entire health status. Your physician will thoroughly
review your medical and family history to help prevent disease,
and identify health problems as early as possible. This type
of evaluation requires more time with the physician, so when
you make an appointment, it is very important that you specify
that you are requesting a physical. If you have not had a physical
in the last twelve months, make an appointment today. During
the summer months, the clinics are typically less congested with
wintertime illness so it is a good time to schedule a physical.
