  • Hospital Admissions: TennCare utilization data for hospital admissions shows that PMG is consistently in the 11th percentile – meaning that compared to other groups in this study, Premier Medical Group physicians do a good job in providing good preventive care which helps to keep patients out of the hospital. This percentile ranking has been consistent for Premier Medical Group primary care physicians over the last five years.
  • Emergency Room Visits: TennCare utilization data for emergency room visits shows PMG primary care is consistently at the 10th percentile – meaning that compared to other groups in this study, PMG physicians are able to keep patients from needing to go to the emergency room. After hours, evening and weekend clinic hours help to keep patients from having to go to the emergency room for acute illnesses. This percentile ranking has been consistent for Premier primary care physicians over the last five years.
  • Immunizations Administered: Premier Medical Group’s preventive care - pediatric and family medicine patients - One hundred charts were randomly audited in 2001. The results - 89% of the patients randomly audited were completely up to date on their immunizations.
  • Adult Diabetic Initiative: Random chart reviews have been conducted since 1999 on adult diabetic patients. Percent of patients with blood pressure at target of 130/85 or less has risen from 26% in 1999 to 37% in 2000 and continued to rise to 56% of the target rate in 2003. The latest available national benchmark is 27%.
    Other Areas of Success in the Adult Diabetic Initiative:
    o Percentage of patients who have had at least one hemoglobin A1C checked within the previous 12 months has risen to from 90 % to 99.5%. The national benchmark is 78%.
    • Percentage of patients with hemoglobin A1C at or below 7.0% has risen from 38% to 50.5%. The national benchmark is 40%.
    • Percentage of patients with at least one LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol) checked within the previous 12 months has risen from 68% to 82%. The national benchmark for this is 71%.
    • Percentage of patients with LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol) at target of 100 or less has risen from 19% to 41.5%. The national benchmark for this is 27%.
