Characteristics:
 | Someone comes into, or lives in, your home.
 | Caregiver may be a friend, neighbor, relative, or someone
unfamiliar.
 | May be half-day, all-day, or before or after school.

Advantages:
 | Especially suitable for infants and toddlers who require
stable surroundings.
 | Your child should receive ample, personal attention.
 | Some light housekeeping may be included.
 | May be the most economical option for three or more
children.
 | Siblings can be cared for together.
 | Close bond may develop between child and caregiver.

Disadvantages:
 | Relatively difficult to find.
 | May be the most expensive option for one or two children.
 | Benefits may be required.
 | Caregiver will not always be available (illness,
vacation), and turnover may be high.
 | Your child may not get the stimulation of other children.
 | Child-rearing philosophies may clash.
 | Caregiver may not have appropriate training or
experience.
 | Caregiver is not supervised directly.

Additional considerations for live-in arrangement:
 | Family's need for privacy.
 | Availability of extra room.
 | Arrangements for meals and other household activities.
